[U-Boot] Flashing PPC440gx Using BDI3000

Hello, I realize this isn't a BDI3000 mailing list but I was hoping to get some input on my problem. I am trying to program u-boot onto the flash (S29GL512N) of a ppc440gx target using a BDI3000 but I am getting some weird behavior. With my current BDI3000 (firmware v1.18) configuration (using SDRAM as the BDI workspace) the first program attempt always fails. Verifying target memory passed 440GX> One interesting thing is when I dump the failed programming attempt and diff it's contents versus my u-boot image it's only the first 512 bytes that are incorrect. Within the 512 bytes I can partially see the contents of the image with some of the data corrupted. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Why would the initial write to flash fail but all other writes work? Any idea why writes to flash work if u-boot initializes the ppc440gx? If this question is way out of line for this list does anyone know where I can find BDI support? Thank you, Kyle

Hi, I am currently going through the bring up of a Freescale MPC8536 based system. We use a SATA hard drive to boot from. I seem to have a problem reading ext2 filesystems created on a Fedora 11 system. I have checked the FAQ for something related to this. If I create the filesystem on the 8536 eval system everything seems to work fine. However if I create an ext2 filesystem on my desktop (F11) with mkfs.ext2 then U-Boot cannot read anything. Below are some examples of the responses I get. I am using a Freescale patched U-Boot version 2009.03-rc1. Regardless of where I created the filesystem it always shows up as ext2 on my desktop. Any pointers or clues? [U-Boot] [PATCH 1/5 v2] Check for NULL prompt in readline_into_buffer()

Previously, passing readline() or readline_into_buffer() a NULL 'prompt' parameter would result in puts() printing garbage when CONFIG_CMDLINE_EDITING was enabled. Note that no board currently triggers this bug. Enabling CONFIG_CMDLINE_EDITING on some boards (eg bab7xx) would result in the bug appearing. This change is only intended to prevent someone from running into this issue in the future. This patch rewrites the miiphybb ( Bit-banged MII bus driver ) in order to support an arbitrary number of mii buses. This feature is useful when your board uses different mii buses for different phys and all (or a part) of these buses are implemented via bit-banging mode. The driver requires that the following macros should be defined into the board configuration file: CONFIG_BITBANGMII - Enable the miiphybb driver CONFIG_BITBANGMII_MULTI - Enable the multi bus support If the CONFIG_BITBANGMII_MULTI is not defined, the board's config file needs to define at least the following macros: MII_INIT - Generic code to enable the MII bus (optional) MDIO_DECLARE - Declaration needed to access to the MDIO pin (optional) MDIO_ACTIVE - Activate the MDIO pin as out pin MDIO_TRISTATE - Activate the MDIO pin as input/tristate pin MDIO_READ - Read the MDIO pin MDIO(v) - Write v on the MDIO pin MDC_DECLARE - Declaration needed to access to the MDC pin (optional) MDC(v) - Write v on the MDC pin The previous macros make the driver compatible with the previous version (that didn't support the multi-bus). [U-Boot] Question about M29W128G CFI QRY bug

Hi Stefan, I'm trying to get u-boot 2009.03 on coldfire to boot on flash part M29W128G. [U-Boot] u-boot newbie

Yesterday I was a JTAG newbie - today I'm a u-boot newbie as well and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've managed to get my hands on a surplus gps board (have no idea what gps). The board has a samsung s3c2410 chip (arm9), samsung k9f5608u0d 32M flash mem and two Qimonda HYB25L256160AF-7.5 (SDRAM) chips (16Mbit x 16 organisation I think). My JTAG interface works fine and I can communicate with the chip (I have managed to dump the flash too - i think). I would like to know where to begin in regards to building a u-boot config for this setup. Is there a ready-made config I could use (or edit?) Or some documentation on how to build a config from first principles? The board doesn't have Ethernet, but there is both usb and serial. Also, once the u-boot has been compiled - where do I flash it to? (which location in the flash mem - apparently it's not a good idea to overwrite the first 4k???) Any help would be fantastic! :)
