[U-Boot-Users] MC5282Lite evaluation board - running from external flash

Hi, I think there is an issue when trying to run U-Boot from flash on this board. So far I was only able to boot U-Boot when I load in to the cpu's internal flash (I need to change the TEXT_BASE value to match that of the internal flash base). When I burn the U-Boot image to external flash and run it I can see that immediately after setting the chip selects in function cpu_init_f (in /cpu/mcf52x2/cpu_init.c under the #if defined(CONFIG_M5282) block), since the program counter still points to an address that is now suddenly in RAM (since we set the external flash base address to 0xffe00000) we cannot go on (there is no code there). Did anyone else see this problem? Was it addressed? Thanks & regards, Erez

[U-Boot-Users] [PATCH] M5282EVB - initdram() does not return a value

When working with a M5282EVB configuration I have noticed that initdram() (in /board/m5282evb/m5282evb.c) does not return a value. It should return the dram size. This causes U-Boot to be unable to complete it's boot process since dram size is set to some garbage value. As a direct correlation exists between DDR DIMM slots and SPD EEPROM addresses used to configure them, use the individually defined SPD_EEPROM_ADDRESS* values to determine if a DDR DIMM slot should have its SPD configuration read or not. Effectively, this now allows for 1 or 2 DIMM slots per memory controller. Hi, When working with a M5282EVB configuration I have noticed that initdram() (in /board/m5282evb/m5282evb.c) does not return a value. It should return the dram size. This causes U-Boot to be unable to complete it's boot process since dram size is set to some garbage value. Adding the following line at the end of the function solved the problem: return (dramsize); Regards, Erez

We've tracked this down to be hardware, but after much head scratching and many official support contacts, we are without any solid theories on the cause. We've tried only one TLB and simpler code, but nothing is working. When running from L2SRAM, as the above example show's CDS running just fine, on our custom hardware we cannot assign the values from the registers r6-r9 to the MAS0-MAS3 and then the code crashes in the start.S TLB loop. The crash from flash might indicate a problem with our external memory controller, but the fact that the same code that runs fine on the CDS board via 'load' from memory while not able to assign values to the MAS0-MAS3 memory is leaving us in doubt what could be the cause. Hi, I am using the u-boot-1.2 on powerpc. I am using separate device tree compiled by DTC. Is there any way to embed the device tree in uboot i.e auto generate the device tree? What is libftd? i didnt get any links or details about that? I search the CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT macro in the u-boot source and i didn't find it any where? Do anyone have any idea? hi , I am using U-boot as my boot loader for Linux. I had set the Mac address of eth0 as an environmental variable in U-boot. My problem is if the Ethernet cable is in disconnected during boot up, then Mac address is not setting up (Means it is 00:00:00:00:00:00).If it is connected during boot up then the Mac address is correctly set. If the cable is disconnected the boot loader showing an error message like "No link MAC: error during RMII initialization".
