[U-Boot-Users] SDRAM Burst Read/Write Test

I think I am having problems with the UPM settings for my burst read/write. I have verified that my single read/write and refresh work by writing memory tests that write all ones, all zeros, rolling ones, and rolling zeros, and then read the patterns back to verify they were saved. How can I do the same thing to check my burst read/write? Is there a C function I can call, or do I just need to inline "lmw"? I seem to be having a similar problem to Sam, where U-Boot crashes when relocating U-Boot to SDRAM. Hello all, I want to submit a question about USB performance. I'm designing a board with a 405GPr and an Intel PIIX4E Southbridge. For upgrade purpose, I'm dowloading linux and initrd image which size is about 9M bytes. With a compact flash on the IDE bus, I issued the command : fatload ide 2:0 800000 pMulti and had the file downloaded in 10 seconds With a memory key on the USB bus, I sent the command : fatload usb 0:0 800000 pMulti and had the file downloaded in 150 seconds Has somebody else noticed this behaviour? [U-Boot-Users] Debugging with BDI2000

I use a BDI2000 to debug the code on on LITE5200 v 2.0. I try to debug u-boot with it last month => it works fine when I comment the line #define CFG_DEFAULT_MBAR 0x80000000 in include/configs.h/IceCube.h (because BDI2000 intialize MBAR first). Ive compiled the last version of u-boot and I cant now debug it with BDI2000 (nothing happened on the console and the PC is staying at 0x00001138 ???) Hi, I am compiling u-boot for at91rm9200dk board. I am using insight for debugging and the cross compiler for arm is also from insight. I am able to compile all the files properly. However when the linking take place I get an error for the libgcc.a file. [U-Boot-Users] No output on serial console for mpc8280

Hi I am porting U-boot to MPC8280 by taking U-boot port on mpc8260ads as reeference. My clock configuration is correct. Bus Frequency is 100 Mhz, CPM Frequency is 300 Mhz, Core Frequency is 450 Mhz. BRG Frequency is 150 Mhz. Baud rate has been set to 9600bps. I have confirmed these values by checking the documentation of mpc8280. While debugging, I ensured that serial_init function is running correctly, But I am not able to see any output on the serial console. Am I missing any register settings? I also want to know the significance of board_pre_init function (and this statement "bcsr[1] = ~FETHIEN1 & ~RS232EN_1;") in mpc8260ads.c and the significance of CFG_BCSR value. I'm not familiar with your board or tools, but the first error is "uses hardware FP, whereas u-boot uses software FP". Does your target hardware have hardware floating point? If so, turn off the "soft float" switch in your u-boot build. If not, you need a library that supports soft floating point instead of hard. In your second email, you stated you switched linkers. The linker isn't the problem, either the compiler switches (hard vs. soft floating point) or your libraries are the problem. Hi, I have compiled the u-boot for at91rm9000dk board. I have used insight tool chain for arm for compling the source. However since the linker provided with the tool chain of insight was having some problems I have used the linker provided form X-tools. Dear Wolfgang - I agree. However my superiors seem to want to spend the money. Good debugging skills and an easy-to-debug architecture matter more. I just didn't want us to spend USD$7500 on something that we could buy for USD$2500 - especially not when the traffic on the list says the BDI2000 is better. But they seem hell-bent on spending the money. For the low level stuff ("simple problems"), a good logic analyzer is at least as capable, and for the highlevel ("complicated") problems it doesn't work anyway, and a plain BDM/JTAG debugger plus a little brain and a lot of experience gives beter results. Hello, I have finsihed with the preliminary port of U-Boot for our latest product(at least enough to test ram, flash, serial, and maybe ethernet). We have a single flash chip on our board that will be either 4MB or 8MB. Due to the way that the 405EP boots up I thought that the smallest I could ever get U-Boot's binary image was two megs. However, when I compile and link it it turns out to be 256K. Is this correct or am I mistaken on the minimal size of U-Boot for a 405EP based board?
