Hi, I have ported u-boot to my arm920t based system. I have a unique situation in that my processor requires a binary header to be placed In front of u-boot.bin before it is burnt into flash. If the processor doesn't find this header in flash it will not boot out of flash. Currently I have the header file as a separate file in the root directory and when I finish a new compile I have a shell script which Simply does a 'cat header.bin u-boot.bin > out.bin'. I'd like to get away from this and add it to the Makefiles so for my board I don't have to run this script every time. Before I go editing a top-level Makefile, I wanted to ask for advice on how I should go About doing this? Anything I can do in my board-specific directory would make me feel better. Suggestions? [U-Boot-Users] Hush 'elif' operation?

Greetings I'm trying to get as close to a switch statement in hush shell language as possible and thought that a set of if/then/elif/else would be tidier than nested if/then/else. It doesn't work how I expected however. The example below illustrates the problem - I was expecting execution after a true test (in the first 'if' in this case) to continue after the 'fi' but instead it ploughs through all the other executable (echo) statements having skipped the elif statements. It does correctly skip the else clause however :-)) Could someone assist in the navigation of this module to point out where would be a good place to start (i.e. some basic principles and assumptions of how the parser works). I was trying to load linux-2.4.4 in FADS860T board using u-boot-1.0.0. I have settted environment variables like ipaddr,serverip,ethaddr,bootargs bootfile and saved the environment. Then,i typed tftpboot to download image from server. Then,i typed bootm to start the booting process. System is stucked by showing "Uncompressing Kernel Image ... OK" sequence of these events r given below.can u please suggest, what i need to do to come out from this. Thank you. Hi everybody, New Feature: * support for PCMCIA card on WEPEP250 board. Notice: The default configuration of WEPEP250 board does not include PCMCIA support. To include PCMCIA and IDE support the WEPEP250 configuration has to be adjusted. Note that I have changed TEXT_ADDRESS for WEPEP250 board to start at 0xA1000000. If my understanding is correct, Linux kernel will use the memory that was occupied by U-Boot code while running in RAM. Tweaking can be done later. It helps if I attach the patch. To enable the driver CFG_CFI_FLASH_DRIVER must be defined. Attached is a patch for the cfi flash driver. The driver includes support for both the Intel and the AMD command sets. The tar file contains 2 files, a patch for the existing sources and the cfi_flash.c which must be placed in the drivers directory. Thanks to all who are helping out. Please let me know if there are any problems or if things went well. If possible plese let me know what are the port width, chip width, flash chip and number of banks on successful uses of this driver. [U-Boot-Users] Flash write problem on CSB226

Hi, we have installed U-boot on a CSB226 board with a PXA255 CPU and a bank of 2 Intel 28F128J3 flash chips (8M x 16bit each). There appeared to be a problem with the flash write function. It would stop after a few words, claiming "flash not erased". Closer inspection revealed, only one of the flashes was in read mode, the other was still in status mode. So I suspected the write_buff function in boards/csb226/flash.c (which wrote the two chips sequentially as two 16-bit words) and modified it to access both chips in parallel as 32 bit (the flash_erase function already works this way). The flash write problem seems to be gone now. Did anyone else experience such problems, or is just our board equipped with particularly unequal or pernickety flash chips? In the attached patch, the old functions are just #ifdef'd out and could be easily reactivated. There's one more thing I'm unsure about: Which is the right place to set the CPU clock? In boards/csb226/memsetup.S it is set to a default value. In cpu/pxa/start.S it is set to the configured CFG_CPUSPEED value, but memsetup is called after this. Regards, Rolf

Hello, attached is a patch against 1.0.2 (checked out 2004-01-14) that fixes a bug in MPC5200 PSC Baud rate calculation. The patch modifies cpu/mpc5xxx/serial.c. The problem was that not the proper rounding was applied which resulted in slightly off Baud rates. The formula to calculate the Baud rate is: Divider = (f_IPBI / 32) / Baudrate Hence, the formula using integer should be: Divider = (((f_IPBI + 16) / 32) + Baudrate/2) / Baudrate Regards Mark Jonas

Hello, attached is a patch against 1.0.2 (checked out 2004-01-14) that fixes a flaw in the MPC5200 startup code. The flaw is that the user is not informed that the CFG_LOWBOOT code is incompatible with the CFG_RAMBOOT option. The patch stops compilation with an #error message in case CFG_LOWBOOT and CFG_RAMBOOT are enabled both. The patch modifies cpu/mpc5xxx/start.S. Regards Mark Jonas
