I have been having problems making the Gigabit Ethernet interface work on the SAMA5D3xEK board with recent versions of U-Boot. After much debugging it eventually transpired that this was because the PHY's skew registers were not being programmed, and it has never worked since this board was converted to use device trees. After fixing the problem that caused the skew values to be missed, I found that the wrong values got programmed, so I had to fix that as well. The following patches resolve both issues. [U-Boot] SWUpdate - U-Boot environment library dependency

Hi all, as Stefano Babic was so friendly and pointed out a few things already, we come the following problematic points: For SWupdate to access U-Boot's environment, it uses code from U-Boot. Before 2015, fw_env.c was copied - hence out of version control, afterwards and since then, a lib.a produced by U-Boot has been used and renamed to libubootenv.a to link against. However, this approach creates several difficulties: * Distros like Debian cannot provide a devel package for SWUpdate like u-boot-dev, since U-Boot has its default environment code compiled board-dependently and Debian needed it board-independent. If a board-independent libubootenv.a was provided without a specific default environment, the first update process would destroy the U-Boot environment if it had had bad CRC before. (Thanks Stefano for this good point). * If we have a board with U-Boot already preinstalled and want to compile SWUpdate for it, we need the sources of this very U-Boot to get the propper lib. For example in a debian-like build system we had to compile U-Boot again, although it is already installed since we lack a dev package. * U-Boot does not provide any default means to install a development library. Thus anything we modify on-top might break with the next version. First proposal by Stefano and me would be to somehow split the default environment from the library to have a board-independent component and board specific data that is passed to U-Boot and SWUpdate somehow. Goal is to factor out U-Boot environment support for other software like SWUpdate and not patching and hacking like its the case with recipes as in openembedded atm. [U-Boot] tools: board config CONFIG_SYS_BOOTM_LEN is being ignored

Hi, i noticed that CONFIG_SYS_BOOTM_LEN, set in board config, and used in common/bootm.c is ignored when compiling the tools like mkimage and fit_check_sign. The default 8MB is used and fit_check_sign may fail with "Loading Kernel Image ... Image too large: increase CONFIG_SYS_BOOTM_LEN". Still the U-Boot binary built with the increased CONFIG_SYS_BOOTM_LEN works without problem. I'm unsure how and where to fix it. The Makefile system ist not quite easy to understand and the CONFIG_* options are spread over various files during build time. Regards, Philipp

With current order of include files, the file designware_spi.c can't see that the struct global_data has the member board_type when CONFIG_BOARD_TYPES is defined. By not seeing this then all the members are shifted in the struct global_data. So when the driver is trying to read from device tree blob, it would pass the wrong address to the function 'fdtdev_get_int'. This will make to use the default frequency 500000. The fix consists of changing the order of include files in designware_spi.c to include first common.h file. [U-Boot] [PATCH] sunxi: update SATA driver to always use DM_SCSI

It seems like the Allwinner SATA driver is already quite capable of using the driver model, so we can force this on all boards and can remove support for a non-DM_SCSI build. This removes the warning about boards with SATA ports not being DM_SCSI compliant. It also takes the opportunity to move the driver out of the board/sunxi directory to join its siblings in drivers/ata, and to make it a proper Kconfig citizen. The board defconfigs stay untouched.
