[U-Boot] [PATCH] OpenRD: relocate environment to 640kB

U-Boot has become slightly larger than where the environment sector was previously located. Saving the environment would brick the device. Relocate the environment to where it is with the stock (i.e. Marvell USP) U-Boot version. That should give plenty of room for U-Boot to grow, including local customisations. This obviously breaks compatibility with previous mainline versions of U-Boot. Users will need to back up the environment before an update and restore it afterwards, or manually copy it to the new address before the update. [U-Boot] [PATCH v2] gpio: spear_gpio: Fix gpio_set_value() implementation

In current gpio_set_value() implementation, it always sets the gpio control bit no matter the value argument is 0 or 1. Thus the GPIOs never set to low. This patch fixes this bug. The address bus is used as a mask on read/write operations, so that independent software drivers can set their GPIO bits without affecting any other pins in a single write operation. Thus we don't need a read-modify-write to update the register. A board that has a USB ethernet device only may set the usbetheraddr and not the ethaddr. ethaddr will be the default MAC address that is chosen and if that is not populated then the usbethaddr is looked at. If neither are set then then device tree blob is not modified. PMIC framework has been redesigned to support multiple instances of power related devices (e.g. fuel gauge, PMICs, chargers, micro USB IC, battery). Due to that, code at other architectures and boards have been adjusted properly. New power_init_board() method at ./lib/board.c file has been introduced. It is meant to be an architecture dependent function to support advanced power management. Since PMIC framework uses lists internally to link different devices, its initialization must be done just after malloc initialization. Please consider commits from this patch set as the example of advanced power management for a particular HW (Trats board in this case). In the new approach PMICs are selected with their names (e.g. 'pmic dump MAX8997_PMIC') Presented patch set is a first step to change 'pmic' command to more generic (i.e. power) to provide control for multiple devices. Moreover device's battery is treated as an oridinary "power" device (like PMIC). Due to that, framework unification is possible. For even more versalite design, each power device instance can specify its parent. Add support of 2-stage T1040QDS SPI bootloader using SPL framework. In this, PBL (hardware) initializes SRAM (256K) and copy SPL (192K) from SPI flash to SRAM and transfer control to SPL. This SPL bootloader furthur initializes DDR using SPD and environment and copy final u-boot image (512K) from SPI flash to DDR and transfer control to final u-boot. Hey all, I just yesterday received my CubieTruck (cubieboard3) with 2 GiB of Ram and added support for it to the sunxi-u-boot branch. While I know this isn't merged into the main u-boot tree (yet), I ran into the following problem. At the end of the dram init code, it is customary to call get_ram_size() and return its value. This is then used to print the DRAM size and also is passed to the Linux kernel. However the return size of get_ram_size() is a long. While I don't understand why not unsigned long or even u64 was chosen, this causes get_dram_size to overflow when having a ramsize of 2 GiB. While only printing of the value isn't hugely important, this does indicate u-boot seems to be somewhat artificially limited to 2 GiB of Ram? This only seems to affect the SPL as, if I understood correctly, there it stores the ram_size into the gd struct which I think is unsigned long. I've started working on a patch to convert common/memsize.c's get_ram_size(), to be completely unsigned long, however there seems to be quite a lot of code that calls this. So my question is now before going over all drivers and change that and submit a big patch-set, did I overlook anything and are my conclusions correct, get_ram_size should return unsigned long. Finally, a long is 32 bits on x86 and armv7, but how will that relate to 64bits armv8? As I understood, Windows treats long's as 4 bytes no matter if it's 32 bit or 64 bit. Linux is better and a long is 4 bytes on 32 bits, and 8 bytes on 64 bits versions. So how will u-boot work on armv8? Will the long datatype work well, or should I consider changing things more future proof? (u32 and u64 come to mind). Thank you for any input regarding that issue. Oliver

This patch set add support for the Marvell Dove 88AP510 SoC and the SolidRun CuBox board based on that SoC. The patch set is divided into the four following sections: (1) Patches 1-5: Add support for the Dove SoC and related drivers. Where possible drivers from Marvell Kirkwood are reused (mvsata, mvgbe), or forked to allow more generic usage (SPI, GPIO). The SDHCI driver is different and a new driver is added for it. The forked drivers can also be reused on Kirkwood but that would have required patching existing boards. (2) Patches 6-8: Allow mvgbe to use the phylib API, add support for 88E1310 PHY and allow Dove to use the driver. (3) Patch 9 Add the SolidRun CuBox as the first board based on Marvell Dove SoC.
