Hi there, IIUC then numbers in image headers (image_header_t) are stored in network byteorder. So when manipulating image headers on the target (i.e. overwriting ih_load) this has to be done in network byteorder. I noticed a problem when passing a second argument to bootm #> bootm 20500000 20400000 on an ARM platform. The data from the my "ARM U-Boot Standalone Program (uncompressed)" was wrongly copied to 0x00004020! [U-Boot-Users] Problem transferring file using kermit

Hi, I am trying to transfer a file to u-boot using kermit under linux. I am using the following in kermit: set line /dev/ttyS1 set speed 115200 set carrier-watch off set handshake none set flow-control none robust set file type bin set file name lit set rec pack 1000 set send pack 1000 set window 5 connect (I type "loadb 40000 CR") CTRL-\ C send /bin update_eeprom.bin At this point, the file transfer screen appears, and all I get is the error count going up by 2 every 8 seconds or so. Can anyone offer any assistance? I've checked in the manual, and all it says is to ensure that kermit is set up as above. I have previously managed to transfer files using loadb using Hyperterminal, so I know that the serial port and everything is working correctly. Can anyone offer any assistance? Thanks Andy

[U-Boot-Users] "Problem in increasing initrd(RAMDISK) size"

Hi All, I am struggling with RAM disk Space. My Problem is : I am working on a emebdded system(WALNUT405 board based ).In the first version of the system we have 16MB SDRAM, executing Linux OS(Embedded Linux Kernel from Montavista ).It was working fine. Later we have upgraded SDRAM size to 32MB to include more libraries in the file system. Here "initrd(linux file system)" includes all my application code along with linux file system. Inorder to include some more features in the application ,we need to increase the initrd size(RAMDISK size). Currently our RAMDISK size is 4MB and it is working fine. We wanted to increase RAMDISK size to 16MB. Is there any relationship that we need to takecare in the kernel to accomidate this RAMDISK size change. We tried by changing the RAMDISK size to 8MB, without any modifications in Kernel, which worked fine. But when we increased the RAM DISK to more than 8MB(12or16MB), the kernel is giving "Kernel panic" error. Can some body throw a light to increase the RAMDISK size. Thanks in Advance, Nagi Reddy

[U-Boot-Users] Bad Magic Number

Hi; I'm a new user of ARM Versatile Board and U-Boot software. Previously, milo.axf and linux kernel was stored in the flash. I use milo.axf to boot the Linux Kernel image and it works fine. After I write the u-boot image onto the flash (comes with the Vertatile CD from ARM). The version is U-Boot 1.1.2 (Feb 4 2005 - 11:04:56). When I tried to use "bootm 0x34100000" (the linux kernel image address). It gave me the "Bad Magic Number". Could anyone tell me what was wrong ? Thanks in advance. Jason Chang

Hello, The issue I met is, FEC on MPC852T - TX doesn't work. The TX_EN is always low level, although data sent out from FEC to PHY - RX could work, interrupt generated, package received, looks fine. I have two board, both are the same cases. Can anybody give some hints? Thanks! Generally speaking, RX might be harder to be debugged than TX, but this time, things becom completely different. [U-Boot-Users] Custom Board configuration

Hello, i´m working with a ppc440 gx custom board and want to use u-boot for booting Linux. First i tried to use the ocotea board files as reference for my board and changed it for my environment. But my board is too different so i think it´s the wrong way to get u-boot functioning. Now i´m searching for informations what i have to do to get u-boot work for my board. Specifications of my Board: PPC 440 GX 2 * 256 MB DIMM Modules - actually not using EEPROM because of stability problems 2 * 8 MB Intel Strata Flash 32-Bit Databus width on CS0 beginning on address 0xff000000 CPLD on CS1 RTC on CS2 I actually have access to DDRAM, Flash and RTC over BDM Interface. So now i need a minimal configuration for booting with u-boot. Is there anywhere a guide or some information what i have to do?! Any help is welcome. Greets, David

[U-Boot-Users] return() from a u-boot application

Hi, We have a u-boot "application" (based on hello_world example) which implements system specific boot control functions. Normally, a return() call from main() will return control back to the u-boot command line. We have several error handling subroutines which report and log errors through a proprietary PCI based interface. Would anyone know how to directly return back to the u-boot command line from within a subroutine which was called from main()? Maybe something like an exit() call. I want to avoid having to return error codes from multiple level of function calls back to main - even though it might not be good coding style. I did try an exit() call but it was undefined. If I export it from U-Boot, will it work? i.e return control back to u-boot. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, IŽm working with a s3c44b0 custom board and want to use u-boot for booting OS. First i tried to modify the B2 board files as reference for my board and changed it for my environment. Although I changed some files, anyway my board had no message when i flashed the image maked by u-boot. So i think itŽs the wrong way to get u-boot functioning. Now iŽm searching for informations what i have to do to get u-boot work for my board.
