[U-Boot-Users] Getting environment variables from downloaded application

Hi all, Is there any easy way of getting the environment variables from a downloaded application or does the application have to pull the environment info from the storage location? There doesn't seem to be a stub function to return the environment and I don't see any other way of getting it. Thanks /Randy

Hi Wolfgang, Are you still considering switching from CVS to a distributed version control system? The following is a pretty interesting summary of a few of them: <http://www.livejournal.com/users/bramcohen/17319.html?thread=163751> I've dabbled with ARCH (tla) and monotone (only since the weekend) to pull the u-boot CVS into a local repository and merge/control local changes while tracking the master repository. After reading the above article, I've been reading up on DARC as well. With ARCH, my approach was to create a Sourceforge CVS -> ARCH master, using ARCH to create changesets that tracked the Sourceforge CVS master repository. I then created a "local master" ARCH repository and applied the "master master" patchsets to the "local master". I've had some problems tracking the master repository successfully. Monotone looks promising because Linus was considering using it and because, according to the article, git closely resembles it. If you're going to grab a tiger tail, might as well grab the tail of the biggest one ;-) Monotone is designed to make multiple branches and multiple heads easy to create and merge, which seems to be a good way to go for tracking a master and simultaneously controlling local changes. I don't have enough time in on it to see how well it works in practice. DARC looks very promising for slaving off a master repository with local changes. I like the idea of being able to easily forward a changeset to the Repository Master (you), and then, when it gets accepted, undo the local changeset and apply the master changeset. ARCH can be used this way but DARC appears to be structured more for this type of usage with its emphasis on independent commutable patches. How well it works in practice remains to be seen... I tried reducing the JTAG clock frequency but with no success. Hi all, I am trying to debug Uboot 1.1.2 on one of our custom boards which has MPC8540. When i connect the BDI2000 i am getting the following.. Can anybody please let me know what is going on. - TARGET: waiting for target Vcc - TARGET: waiting for target Vcc - TARGET: processing power-up delay - TARGET: processing user reset request - BDI asserts HRESET - Reset JTAG controller passed - Bypass check: 0x55 => 0xFF - JTAG exists check failed - Remove HRESET and try again - Bypass check: 0x55 => 0xAA - JTAG exists check passed - Platform IDCODE is 0x1003001D - Core PVR is 0x80200020 - Core status is 0x00C1 - Platform status is 0x0001 - SAP status is 0x0005 - SAP CCSRBAR is 0xFF700000 - BDI scans core HALT command - Core status is 0x00C1 - Platform status is 0x0001 - SAP status is 0x0005 - BDI removes HRESET - TARGET: Target PVR is 0x80200020 - TARGET: resetting target passed - TARGET: processing target startup .... - Core status is 0x00C1 *** Core is stopped, no restart possible # PPC: timeout while waiting for halt - TARGET: processing target startup passed BDI>reset Regards, Girish

hi I m a new user to u boot .....plz if nybody can guide me ...I want to boot MPC 8255 processor ... and a standalone application (not LINUX or any OS ) on it... The bootloader should copy the standalone application from ROM to SD RAM and then give cntrl to application in RAM.. someone who has worked on that plz guide me .... When compiling u-boot 1.1.2 for a MPC8540 board. I have a crash in the printf function. After looking at the assembler code generated I found the "stswi" instruction which is not supported by the e500 core. The config file I use is based on the MPC8540ADS config file which has the following defines: /* High Level Configuration Options */ #define CONFIG_BOOKE 1 /* BOOKE */ #define CONFIG_E500 1 /* BOOKE e500 family */ #define CONFIG_MPC85xx 1 /* MPC8540/MPC8560 */ #define CONFIG_MPC8540 1 /* MPC8540 specific */ #define CONFIG_MPC8540ADS 1 /* MPC8540ADS board specific */ I use ELDK3.1 and CROSS_COMPILE = ppc_6xx- What should I do ?

Hi! I've got a little problem porting U-Boot to a Coldfire MCF5272 based platform. Everything's fine (now) up to the point where it relocates itself to RAM. Hi all, I'm wondering why linux and u-boot are seeing different files when I use a jjfs2 image on my nand flash. This is what I've done. I partitioned my nand flash with 3 partitions (u-boot, jffs2, user) Then I flashed the jffs2 image with nand write.jffs2 booted the uImage from my jffs2 with fsload That all worked fine (although fsload is extreamly slow) and I can use my linux. Then I created a new file in my root. A "ls" from linux displays that file. With a "ls" from u-boot the file is not visible... So what went wrong? Who is cheating on me? Thanks for your help. Jonas
