Folks, I am currently porting u-boot 1.1.1 to an ARM920T core with the ELDK 2.1 tools. Other than the readme file and sample board configuration files, is there a comprehensive list of the CONFIG_ CFG_ settings? We are testing the ping command prior to attempting downloads and the IP header fields appear to be in Little Endian rather than Big Endian. I am not using environment variables at this time, but have filled the bdinfo structure with IP address and MAC address. The NetCopy macros/functions don't seem to use the ntohX and htonX macros, so I'm wondering at what point the conversion occurs in the internal data structures? [U-Boot-Users] Initialize MAC Address w/out running dhcp

I just had to get in on the MAC address conversation, but in a different way. I have observed on my omap1510inn based board that Linux does not correctly receive the MAC address unless I make use of networking in U-Boot prior to bootm. This network access can be either tftp'ing a file to the board or running "dhcp". Is there a way that I can set up the Ethernet chip (or is this in the board info structure that U-Boot shares with Linux?) to have the "ethaddr" MAC address without actually running a network command? My target platform is with 750FX and MPC107, 256M ram, a NS16c552 serial and also a Intel 82559 compatiable ethernet controller. I can get Program Exeption(0x700) printing msg when I "go" a program from an arbitary address within U-Boot's shell. But when I set EE bit in MSR register, U-Boot seems to hang there, nothing output. I guess the exception handling have problem. But I really didn't change any codes in Start.s or ppc_asm.tmpl. Additonal, when I write a dword to a address outside my BAT-Array covered range, DSI Exception(0x300) also seems hanging, nothing output. I originally image that the UnknownException() funciton can print something on my console. In any case Program Exception handling does work. And it seems when I set IP bit in MSR register, the higher Exception handler which is borned in flash can go up to the address { hdlr - _start + EXC_OFF_SYS_RESET; (refer to ppc_asm.tmpl Line 304) }. There is a number such as 0x3688. Maybe CPU turned to that address to fetch next instruction. Unfortunately, that address is dull, so program exception occured. And then I got something on the console just like that after I "go 0x3688". >From above, I can image STD_EXCEPTION(...) works well, even transfer_to_handler has no problem, but next to that, UnknownException() or timer_interrupt() or external_interrupt() don't work -- at least they can't output the strings to console. At last I check the data in exactly the exception handler offset, like "md 0x700; md 0x900; md 0x500;". I can find the last two addresses embedded. One is like UnknownException() or timer_interrupt() or external_interrupt(). The other is like int_return. Simply "go" the first address, I retained normal result -- UnknownException() or timer_interrupt() or external_interrupt() print their origin msg on the console. But why they can't work in the exception handling -- even they won't really run in the exception handling, :) Thanks to your patiently reading out the above long text. [U-Boot-Users] MAC address question...

I have a board with a SMC91111 on it, with an EEPROM connected to it, to store the MAC address. This allows users of the board to re-flash the main flash with U-boot as many times as they want without worrying about managing the MAC address in the main flash. However, changing the EEPROM MAC address is troublesome, because the /drivers/smc91111.c doesn't seem to support programming the attached EEPROM. (you can get_rom_mac, but not set_rom_mac). Before I started adding things, does anyone else have the same issue? What I was thinking of doing was defining some reserved memory locations of the processor as FLASH, and handle this in /board/specific/flash.c - a flash write to 6 memory locations will actually set the MAC address in the EEPROM attached to the LAN91111. This solution is OK - it only effects my board, the downside is that if this is a problem other face, it doesn't help anyone else. Thoughts? Thanks -Robin
