[U-Boot-Users] Is serial_init() enough to make output to the serial console?

Hi all, I am using PPC 405GP and I have a quick question: Does serial_init() in cpu/ppc405/serial.c provide essensial initialization for UART? If I cut and copy this function and run it in SDRAM, can the function like serial_putc put char to the serial output right after the serial_init is doen? I tried this but when I tried to put '@' to console, I got '.' What could be the problem or did I miss anything? Thanks! [U-Boot-Users] How to decide UART CFG_BASE_BAUD?

I am using PPC 405GP rev E, 200MHz cpu clock. The desired baudrate of UART is 9600. According to the manual, developer needs to decide a devisor udiv to get the serial clock, i.e. serial clock = cpu clock / udiv An UART baudrate divisior bdiv is defined as bdiv = serial clock / (desired baudrate * 16) I checked the u-boot source code and got a couple of questions: 1. a CFG_BASE_BAUD is defined upfront in u-boot. What is this? Is CFG_BASE_BAUD = serial clock / 16? If so the serial clock is fixed, instead of programmable, is that right? But the manual says the serial clock is programmable through setting the value of udiv. So udiv and the serial clock, which should be set first? In another word, should udiv be decided by user and then cpu calculate the serial clock according to udiv, or should user put a fixed serial clock to let cpu calculate udiv? 2. With two parameters, i.e. cpu clock = 200MHz and UART baudrate = 9600, can program decide all divisors such as udiv and bdiv? I found a table in a vxworks boot rom source, which tells developers when clock = 200M, UART baudrate = 9600, the udiv should be set as 14. How this number comes from? First of all thank you for your answer. Hello Porting u-boot to a Xilinx ML300 board I build my HW platform with EDK. then, I wanted to mention that I am not working in standalone (I am going to use u-boot) The problem that in XPSàProjectàSoftWare platform settings, I only find linux, VxWorks, standalone but not u-boot???? Brad, there are bugs in the cfi code, and it also does not handle a 16bit flash operating as an 8bit chip on an 8 bit bus. [U-Boot-Users] [PATCH] SMC91111 Tx interrupt handling and ethaddr handling

This patch contains several fixes/changes: 1) proper tx interrupt handling - packets must still be freed/releases manually on error even with autorelease enabled). - Tx int timeout is 100ms according to the manual. 2) reverts CTL_DEFAULT back to register default. AUTORELEASE is not the default...or this with default at init 3) removes 'getenv' and 'setenv' calls from 'smc_get_ethaddr' - don't think the ethernet driver should need to know about the environment, the data need is already passed to function via board info. - don't think ethernet driver should change environment, changing info is fine. -- Paul Ruhland <pruhland(a)microwavedata.com> Software Engineer Microwave Data Systems Rochester, NY 16420

After u-boot relocates into RAM -- what is the line of code that it jumps to? I am looking in cpu/pxa/start.S and I see that the pc is loaded with start_armboot. What code corresponds to that address? Thanks, Michael
