I am not sure that I understand how to pick up the bootargs variables in Linux (ocotea) PPC. I looked at codes of different machine but I do not know which one fit fro my 440GX based-machine. I am still looking into these bd_t and bi_record structure to see if I can find the answer. Any help welcome?

Hello, I use B2_config, the image created confused me. Here is the log: #arm-linux-gdb u-boot GNU gdb 6.2.1 Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. There is absolutely no warranty for GDB. Type "show warranty" for details. This GDB was configured as "--host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --target=arm-linux"... (gdb) file u-boot Load new symbol table from "/project/u-boot/u-boot"? (y or n) y Reading symbols from /project/u-boot/u-boot...done. (gdb) info address _start Symbol "_start" is at 0xc100000 in a file compiled without debugging. (gdb) info address reset Symbol "reset" is at 0xc100030 in a file compiled without debugging. (gdb) info address cpu_init_crit Symbol "cpu_init_crit" is at 0xc1000b0 in a file compiled without debugging. The address of '_start', supposed would be 0x00000000, however it is 0xc100000, so does the 'reset'/'cpu_init_crit"/all the other symbols.... When i cp this image into the flash, and use BDI2000. The BDI2000 looks like can't recognize the 0xc10.... address, it always announce 'hardware breakpoints full', while the arm-linux-gdb prompts 'invalid memory address accessed....' I have a little experience with the U-boot on PPC platform, i recall _start/entry-point always be at the 0x00000000, which BDI2000 fetch it from the start point of the flash. However i am brand newbie to the arm platform, so i guess i might have this or that mistake on the image creation. Am i breaking some building rules when i create the image? [U-Boot-Users] Is pci_hose_scan() necessary?

Hello All, We are in the process of making custom PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) based on the mpc8266. It will be connected to a carrier board using PMC connectors. It is to be configured as a master waiting for PCI interrupts from the carrier board, also a master. I have the job of customizing u-boot for the board, and I am currently stuck in the initialization + configuration of the PCI interface. My question is: What is the significance of pci_hose_scan() in the particular case of our board? At first sight, it seems to be the carrrier board's job to do the pci_hose_scan, not mine. But some research on the net showed that pci_hose_scan is a necessary part of PCI initialization, whether the board is a master or a slave. So should I include it in my customized u-boot, or should I comment it out? [U-Boot-Users] Resolved -- Problems accessing flash on OMAP 1510 Innovator

After studying code in rrload and doing some googling, I tried an experiment and it worked. In the file board/omap1510inn/flash.c I changed the function get_flash_size() so that it now contains the following code: /* Write auto select command: read Manufacturer ID */ // addr[0x5555] = (FPW) 0x00AA00AA; // addr[0x2AAA] = (FPW) 0x00550055; // addr[0x5555] = (FPW) 0x00900090; addr[0] = (FPW) 0x00900090; In other words I got rid of three lines of code and added my own. I can now access -- both read and write -- the flash. My only concern is what have I broken by this change! But for now I'm happy. Thanks for everyone's help. Steve

I should just have you double check that you're checking the DIP switches on the processor-module of the Innovator and not the large break-out-board where the modules are laid out in a non-stacked way. I banged my head against a wall for about a week when I was adjusting the wrong switches one time. I partly attributed it to poor documentation of the BoB by TI and partly user error. -Michael Bendzick
