Fixes performance related issue when running vxWorks 5/7 images. The overall memory performance (L1, L2 cache and ram) was measured with Bandwidth [0]. Android documentation recommends using new image format for storing dtb and dtbo files: [1]. Using that format, we can pack several dtb files to dtb.img, and also pack several dtbo files to dtbo.img. Then those images should be flashed to eMMC partitions, called "dtb" and "dtbo" respectively. This patch series introduces support for mentioned Android DT image format, adds "dtimg" command to deal with that image format from U-Boot shell, and provides new Android boot scheme to TI boards (AM57x and DRA7 boards). So with this patch series we will have next procedure for Android boot: 1. Read next images from eMMC partitions to RAM: - boot.img - dtb.img - dtbo.img 2. Take addresses of desired dtb/dtbo files from that images (for current board) 3. Apply dtbo overlays to main dtb, if needed 4. Boot the kernel from Android boot image, using resulting dtb It was tested on X15 and AM57x EVM boards. This patch set is to clean code for board related file, after this patch set, all the Rockchip SoCs will share the same tpl/spl/board file and very similar boot flow. tpl.c: target for init DDR sdram, only internal sram available, prefer tpl to be as simple as possible and then back to backrom; spl.c: target for load U-Boot and Trust(option) image and boot into next stage, init DDR sdram if no tpl exist; board.c: use for U-Boot proper for all Rockchip SoCs. We prefer to reduce boot flow option like RETURN_TO_BROM in SPL/TPL, and will enable trust(ATF or OPTEE) support for all SoCs with TrustZone, will share scripts for link and firmware package. Only rk3399 is using spl+Trust/U-Boot and all other SoCs should go to tpl+spl_Trust/U-Boot mode now. This avoids handling requests that have an error status or no data. In particular, this avoids showing unnecessary error messages when the USB gadget gets disconnected (e.g. with fastboot continue) and the fastboot USB gadget driver sends an error back to the host (that has disconnected already). [U-Boot] FEC and EFI Simple Network

Hi, I have been debugging network issues when running an EFI Application that uses the EFI Simple Network protocol on an i.MX6 machine (FEC). The symptom is that u-boot's (FEC) internal RX ring index is reset to 0, while the controller is still at idx 3 (or something else). This is caused by the following circumstances: The Simple Network protocol offers methods like Start(), Stop(), Initialize(), Shutdown(), Reset(). Also the protocol has a state. The states are Stopped, Started, Initialized. The transition is as follows: Stopped ---Start()---> Started ---Initialize()--> Initialized Start() does some initialization, Initialize() allocates the TX/RX descriptors and actually kicks off the network engine. So far, only Initialize() is implemented in our u-boot interface, and it calls eth_init() which in the end calls fec_init(). Our network state is _always_ Started. This means that EFI Applications see that that the state is Started and then call Initialize() to start the actual network traffic. There is no call to Stop()/Shutdown()/Reset() as it's supposed to be in a sane state. In my case the FEC is already initialized since I booted using network and the RX desc index is already non-zero. Now the EFI Application sees that the state is Started, calls Initialize() which makes u-boot call eth_init() which then calls fec_init(). fec_init() does not reset the controller so that the controller-internal RX desc index is not reset to zero. fec_init() calls fec_open() which then resets the driver-internal RX desc index to zero. Now they are out of sync, boom. This means that fec_init() without a previous fec_halt() breaks the whole network if it was already running. The Designware driver as used by some sunxi platforms does a reset of the controller in the init function. Maybe calling fec_halt() at the start of fec_init() could be a possible solution? [U-Boot] re-use dm data for pre-relocate and post-relocate

Hi Simon, In order to make people easier to maintain a U-Boot for product, we want to re-use the dtb from kernel. Some peripheral like power/pmic and display panel, key, charger which need work in U-Boot and may different in different product, we want to make people only maintain kernel dts, but not one more U-Boot project for all these devices. I want to do this just around the relocate, need to read dtb from storage like emmc/nand/spi, and then use a new dtb for initr_dm after relocate. Here are issues I have met: - The kernel dts may not have a stdout in chosen, we may use earlycon, earlyprintk instead; this lead to U-Boot can not find a serial driver after relocate; - no alias for mmc device which is need by U-Boot but not used in kernel; - not able to init mmc driver twice with current driver; mmc driver not able to work before relocate, no bss for (static int initialized), and hang even if I skip this; mmc driver can init and read dtb before initr_dm, but not able to init again after initr_dm. In fact, I don't think we have to re-init serial driver and mmc driver, and most other driver which need pre-relocate like clock, the only driver I have seem have different use in pre-relocate and post-relocate is video driver(no idea why it have to be pre-relocate, we always have display very late), can we add a tag for re-use the dm driver data for those with pre-relocate ? Even on 32bit systems a full 4GB of DRAM may be installed and reported by the DRAM controller. Whether these 4GB are larger available depends on the size/configuration of address decoding windows and architectural features. This increases the fields holding the RAM size to have at least 33bits (i.e. we use a u64) and fixes the fallout from the change: some casts, the usage of min() and a few printf formats have to be adjusted.
