Hello Dear, I am porting Uboot to our platform which is similiar to Realview_pb11MPcore, with the difference in Timer : Using the ARM11 MPcore onchip timer instead of offchip SP804 Timer. As a result, i have to access the MPCore private memory region. According to the ARM11MPcore Technical Reference Manual, I can access the private memory region by using pins PERIPHBASE[18:0], which is 19 bits. I shift the PERIPHBASE 13 bits to the right then plus the 13 bits offset for the Onchip timer, use this address to modify the CONFIG_SYS_TIMERBASE macro in realview_pb.h. But when I initialize the Uboot, it just halted with nothing in the console.( If I dont use such addresses, the system wont halt but come to the stand that timer cannot downcount: Hit any key to stop autoboot: 2 ) Is there anyone know if it is the right way to access MPCore private memory region? [U-Boot] Multiple Flash devices

I have a NOR Flash used as a boot flash (16MB) and a NAND flash (128MB)to store kernel/rfs on coldfire based custom board . The u-boot is running out of NOR flash but I have problems in enabling NAND support from u-boot. Need clarity on couple of definitions in the board configuration file. CFG_FLASH_SIZE : Should it include both NOR+NAND size CFG_MAX_FLASH_BANKS: If there are two flash devices, is it correct to give as 2. Is NAND flash identified as a seperate Bank. CFG_FLASH_BANKS_LIST : Should it include both Flash base addresses. Welcome any other pointers when working with both NOR/NAND Flash. Thanks in adv. //Kishor

[U-Boot] Booting kernel from jffs2

Hi, I have an requirement to have three partitions in the Flash 1. U Boot 2. JFFS2(GoldenImage) (Mininum Kernel Image ) 3. JFFS2(Application Image) (Kernel + Application) The idea of Golden image is to use this partition to boot in case the application image fails after software upgrade due to corruption of the filesystem in this partition if any during upgrade. When the system is up with Golden image, partition 3 can be updated. Is this method feasible. Kindly let me know if you have better ideas or suggestions? Regards Rams

Currently the NOR & NAND support in Linux only works for the "standard" Sequoia, the version booting for NOR flash. The NAND-booting version has the chip-selects swapped. Here the chip-select mappings: "Standard" NOR-booting version: CS0 NOR CS3 NAND NAND-booting version: CS0 NAND CS3 NOR With this path the dtb gets fixed-up, so that the correct chip-select numbers are patched in the dtb enabling correct NOR & NAND support in Linux on the NAND-booting Sequoia version. [U-Boot] Help about a simplified bootloader.

Hi all, I want to boot linux by a simplified bootloader. I use Atmel's ARM chip (AT91SAM9RL64EK board). Now, I can boot linux with my small program. The small program will parse the image generaed by "mkimage" and copy the kernel bianry from NAND flash to SDRAM, construct the tag list, disable I/D cache, disable interrupt and then jump to kernel entry point. The system can startup, but when accessing rootfile system(the rootfile system was also in the NAND chip), a lot of CRC errors were found. See below, mtd->read(0x1fb2c bytes from 0x1804d4) returned ECC error mtd->read(0x1fa38 bytes from 0x3e05c8) returned ECC error mtd->read(0x1f7dc bytes from 0x7c0824) returned ECC error jffs2_scan_inode_node(): CRC failed on node at 0x007c37a4: Read 0xd9b2bc33, calculated 0xda4805c1 and sometimes the sytem even crashed when R/W filesystem. But with the same linux kernel and rootfile system, if I use U-Boot to boot linux, everything seems OK. Can anyone tell is there any trick that's related with linux NAND driver in U-Boot? Or any suggestion to help me moving on? Thanks!

Hi, I'm the author of the Linux SSB subsystem, which implements 95% of the system bootup code for the Broadcom 47xx MIPS architecture. I'd like to start porting u-boot to the bcm47xx. (I guess nobody started with this already?) Which GIT repository should I base my work on? [U-Boot] Data cache breaks U-Boot on ARM

Hi all, in order to enable data cache in U-Boot on ARM926, I have set up MMU to map all 4GB region directly (fixed mapping) and created a U-Boot command that will do all pagetable settings and switch on MMU and caches. However, when DCache is switched on with WRITETHROUGH or WRITEBACK policy, U-Boot stucks. Switching on only MMU and ICache works well, so I presume that pagetables were correctly set. Does anybody have idea what can be wrong here? I tried invalidating both caches and TLB before and after turning on DCache, but I get the same result. Best regards, Drasko
