I've continued my investigations and found out that the bootm function unzip properly the kernel image (CRC ok) and then get into the do_bootm_Linux function. Debuging that function bring following results : initrd_high is detected NULL, current stack ends at 0x03EA9550 => set upper limit to 0x00800000 No initrd image detected Transfering control to Linux (at address 00000000) ... OF_FLAT_TREE is ndef Thus it means that I reach the last command of the do_bootm_Linux (*kernel) (kbd, initrd_start, initrd_end, cmd_start, cmd_end); but the Kernel dif not start... If it could help my memory map is: UART16550 0x9000 0000 0x9000 01FF I2C 0xA800 0000 0xA800 01FF SysAce 0xCF00 0000 0xCF00 01FF intC 0xD100 0FC0 0xD100 0FDF SRAM (1M) 0x2000 0000 0x200F FFFF Flash(8M) 0x2800 0000 0x287F FFFF Not used RAM DDR2 (256M) 0x0000 0000 0x0FFF FFFF RAM OCM (BRAM) 0xFFFF 0000 0xFFFF FFFF a fatload of the kernel image at address 0x400000 (DDR2 RAM) or 0x20000000 (SRAM) bring same error. I'm enabling the support for DS1374 as watchdog. I'm testing it on ARM920T platform. Where the watchdog initialization function should be called? Is it correct to put it in cpu_init ()? I though I had to invoke it in board_init, but when board_init is executed the watchdog reset function has already been called. [U-Boot-Users] howto use diskboot with ppcboot?

Hi, I want to boot an alternative kernel on my NAS with minimal changes to the flash. I suppose this could be possible by using diskboot. My problem is now that I am very new to the bootloader problematic and the documentation for ppcboot is rather short and the documentation for uboot seems not to fit. From the sources of the diskboot command I understand that it expects a dos partition and reads continuous blocks from this partition. Does this mean I need a dos partition and have to write the kernel image with dd to it? It doesn't look like it supports the dos filesystem, or is the dos fs really so simple? But if it is not using the dos fs, why has the partition to be of type dos? Hopefully I didn't make myself a fool and overlooked the obvious. Gerald

[U-Boot-Users] ML403 UBOOT I2C and Linux Boot Problem

I succeed to start u-boot(1.1.4) on my ML403 board. To do so I've dowloaded the ml403_emb_ref_ppc_81.zip from xilnx website as well as u-boot.zip (from ml410 documentation on xilinx web site). 1) First I've modifie the xparameters.h file in u-boot/board/xilnx/ml403 directory to match hardware design of ml403_emb...81 project. (The memory mapping is different) I'm now have u-boot working on ML403 but the IIC EEPROM can't be accessed. imd command (imd 50 10.2 10 )return error message, iprobe hang up and saveenv did not save anything into I2C memory. Does any one as any experience on that issue? Note : To use I2C one should define either CONFIG_HARD_I2C or CONFIG_SOFT_I2C, but Xilinx as writen function (i2c_read...) in iic_addapter.c without using this macro. Is it the right way? 2) If I manually load kernel uImage in memory (fatload ace 0 400000 linux/uboot.uImage) and then boot the kernel (bootm 400000) then the process stop after Uncompressing Kernel Image ... Ok Note: The kernel has been compiled with a command line to boot via NFS. This image works properly if associated to bitsream in the ace file. The kernel 2.4.26 has been patched for u-boot and recompiled with same config (using mkimage to generate uImage) Any suggestion? 3) The board did not start at powerup with that ace file (bitsream + uboot),the done light did not go on, I need to press sysace rst button to start properly. Does any one face that cold start prolblem? Thank in advance for any help Chris

Hello, I have a system with a jffs2 filesystem that spans over multiple flash parts. I want to use u-boot to boot the linux system where the kernel is in the jffs2 filesystem. I can't seem to configure u-boot so the jffs2 filesystem is in multiple devices/partitions. It seems that a partition must fit within a device(part). Is there a way to configure the system so "ls" will see the entire jffs2 filesystem? Thanks bill.

Does anyone know why u-boot 1.1.4 fails if you use two dimms in the Ocotea Amcc board? I have try two 256 dimm, two 512 dimm, and one 256 dimm in the second slot ( nothing in the first slot) it all fails. Is this a know problem with the Ocotea board? Gerald

I found in mpc85xx start.s, before doing any initialization it disabled i-cache & d-cache. Must we do so? If we don't disable them what will it cause?
