The proposed patch creates a new directory under tools : "tools/customize" The "tools/Makefile" will 'include' * "customize/*/tool.mk" * "customize/*/build.mk" allowing BINS & OBJS to be defined in the "tool.mk" file and the build description in the "build.mk" file. Is there a method to retrieve a the value of an environment variable and save it in a known location in RAM? [U-Boot-Users] Scripting Doubt

Hi, I have an elementary doubt regarding u-boot scripts. I will explain this by taking an example. Let the script be setenv my_script setenv a 5 \; setenv b 5 \; On the u-boot prompt, I can run this script as "run my_script". Is it possible to save this script in some way in the uboot image itself, so that when I download uboot, I have this variable set in the environment. Basically I am looking for some kind of compile time support, the way it happens for bootcmd. I went through the documentation, but it only talked about running scripts by downloading a text-file after u-boot is up. I am looking for some kind of compile time support. Thanks, Ajay

Hi Wolfgang Denk Sory for my newbie things :( After searching for answer, my linux expert told me if I used sudo to make, ubuntu will switch to root and PATH is modified. I use sudo chown -R for u-boot folder. umm, my arm gcc is found. [U-Boot-Users] Adding multiple MIPS based SoCs?

Hi, We are in the process of adding our internal U-Boot changes to the latest public U-Boot. One "problem" we face is that we have multiple SoCs each with a (slightly) different MIPS core variant. Adding them all under cpu/mips and #ifdef-ing start.S does not seem appealing. Our preference is to have a separate cpu directory for each SoC, more or less as is done for the MPCs. Dear all, I use U-boot 1.1.4 to boot my Linux 2.6.16-rc5. Also, there is one point that I think we should pay attention to. Maybe it is the reason of the problem. That is, In my system, I use TEMAC instead of EMAC. I noticed that in the xparameters.h for board ML403, there are only some EMAC parameters defined. However in my hardware platform, I use TEMAC instead. Is this the reason for my problem? Can TEMAC be supported by U-Boot? Any opinion for this problem is appreciated. Thanks for your help. Is it really an error to come across a bad block? I thought that was part of the deal when using nand chips. If, for example, I want to erase a whole chip, then silently skipping bad blocks seems like the way to go. I could see keeping some kind of debug message, but something less severe than KERN_WARNING. Would that make this acceptable? Thanks for your help. -DB
