We use u-boot to boot a CE 5.0 image. I can't tell you what's wrong with your boot, but I can tell you it can be done. The commands are basically what you have - we use different addresses and filenames. You do need to ensure that the image is loaded where it is built for - that means verify your config.bib is building the image for the address you are downloading to. [U-Boot-Users] Kernel ignores u-boot's bootargs?

It seems like the kernel (2.6.10 for at91rm9200dk) doesn't see the bootargs. I comment CMDLINE in kernel's .config, set and save u-boot's bootargs with parameters (www.denx.de/wiki/view/DULG/LinuxBootArgs). But it stops after the bye-bye u-boot's message "Starting kernel...". The receipt in www.denx.de/wiki/view/DULG/LinuxKernelIgnoresMyBootargs doesn't help.

I was able to create the nk.nb0 file using a utility cvrtbin. But the problem is that when i copy the nk.nb0 file to RAM and try to call using the command "go", the wince is not executed. Based on some good advice from Marc, I have been tracing through the buffers to find my problem. I can see console output being written to a buffer at IMMR|0x2811 (0xFA202881 in my case). The buffer pointer appears to never advance, but this may be because I am debugging and the SMC services this buffer before the next call to smc_putc(...). I do not know. OR this may be one of the problems that I am looking for. So, the culprit seems to be that the SMC buffer is not properly initialized, though the baudrate generator and SMC registers are set up correctly (see previous posts). Also, I am noticing that the serial initialization functions that set up the buffer are not called, but this could just be my oversight because of the unusual (or atlesat to me) way addresses for the functions are passed in a struct and then called by address somewhere else. So what would help the most is if someone could inform me of the inilialization sequence and function calls used to set up the SMC. It seems conceptually straight forward, but my breakpoints in smc_init(), for example, are never hit when the buffer pointers are set up. Thanks, JM

I'm trying to do a network boot from uboot of linux, where the boot image is on machines that are nfs mounted. I'm looking for the documentation for the definitions of the environment variables required to perform this task. Wolfgang, I was looking at merging the EMDS and ADS ports for MPC834x and was wondering about a few things: * EMDS has TEXT_BASE @ 0xFE000000, and ADS at 0xFE700000 where do you end up programming u-boot at? (for example what is the flash command you use to reprogram a u-boot image on the board). * I had to rework the BATs to be able to cover everything properly which also meant moving a few things around. CFG_BCSR 0xF8000000 -> 0xE2400000 CFG_INIT_RAM_ADDR 0xE8000000 -> 0xFD000000 This is so we can fit everything into the 8 BATS and maintain proper WIMG settings. If you can explain the TEXT_BASE difference and how that works out and are ok with the changing of CFG_BCSR and CFG_INIT_RAM_ADDR then I'll push some patches to merge ADS & MDS, remove ADS, and we get PCI support on EMDS out of it. let me know. - kumar
