hi, I am trying to cross compile u-boot for mips. I have U-boot-1.1.2. Toolchain comprises of the following packages binutils-2.15.94.0.2 gcc-3.4.3 glibc-2.3.3 During the cross compulation I get the following error /home/mudeem/ubootPrj/u-boot-1.1.2/cpu/mips/start.S: Assembler messages: /home/mudeem/ubootPrj/u-boot-1.1.2/cpu/mips/start.S:241: Error: can't resolve `_GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_' {*UND* section} - `L1 1' {.text section} make: *** [cpu/mips/start.o] Error 1 In a previous post from Leif I read that binutil 2.15 has some compatibility issue with U-Boot. I wanted to know that is there any patch of U-boot available that overcomes this incompatibility or should I build a toolchin using binutil 2.13. Also is the problem with binutil 2.15 or with U-Boot. [U-Boot-Users] _udivsi3 and _umodsi3 from the compiler libraries instead of libarm.a

I had a problem linking u-boot for an IXP425 (ARM) board. The problem was that _udivsi3 and _umodsi3 were being satisfied from the compiler libraries instead of libarm.a. One fix that works is to change this line in the top level Makefile: --start-group $(LIBS) $(PLATFORM_LIBS) --end-group \ To this: --start-group $(LIBS) --end-group $(PLATFORM_LIBS) \ I'm concerned that this might break other stuff. Is there a better way to fix this? Robert

[U-Boot-Users] Need help booting an unsupported OS on ARM

I am trying to use U-Boot to start up a home grown OS. How can I make my OS a little more U-Boot friendly, or visa-versa? The specific problem I'm having is that when I issue a SWI on the arm, the U-Boot interrupt routines get used instead of mine. I can see why that is happening because the vectors in the flash address point to the U-Boot routines, but I'm wondering if there is a way to set a secondary jump so that my routines are used. Dear All When i start the non- compressed kernel, it will print "Linux version 2.4.18-rmk4", and when i bootup the compressed kernel , "uncompressed linux ......" is displayed. Both situation will reboot the machine and come back to the bootloader. Do anybody know what is the problem? Do i set anything wrong? best regard Mike,Lee

[U-Boot-Users] building sc520_cdp target fails -- needs ssi.h

Building the sc520_cdp target on SuSE 9.1 Pro is giving an error message. It fails identically under SuSE 9.2 Pro. Building U-Boot for an x86 target uses the self tools (gcc, ld). The hello_world example fails to link due to undefined references to printf, getc, et al. It does not appear to be building against the printf implementation in common/console.c. I modified the examples Makefile to not build any examples since it appears that they are not going to build. The real problem is that there is a dependency on file ssi.h in several places: cpu/i386/sc520.c, drivers/ds1722.c, drivers/mw_eeprom.c. I don't have this ssi.h file. For those of you that are able to build the sc520_cdp target, where are you getting ssi.h? It is not in the U-Boot distribution and it is not under any SuSE 9.[12] Pro include directories. I also do not see it anywhere on my RH7.3 machine. Are you using a toolchain other than self gcc/ld on your development host to build this target? Thanks, Chuck Meade chuck(a)theptrgroup.com

I download the images from the ARM site (http://www.arm.com/linux/prebuilt_download.html) - u-boot-ap.axf - Image.Integrator.2.6.9 - System.cramfs I program all 3 images onto the flash, and I boot from u-boot. When I want to launch the kernel, the boot process freezes. Am I doing something wrong ? I do need to configure something before program the images ? Best Regs, Thierry Matalini

I tried this already a couple of weeks ago, but did not solve problems. The "Image"? What has to be enabled in u-boot so it gets along with this type of image?
