[U-Boot-Users] how to set env in u-boot to boot ramdisk?

i can run the kernel and ramdisk correct when i embedded ramdisk in kernel,and i use bootm can bootm them correctly. but if i make vmlinux and ramdisk as two image to bootm it get VFS panic can't find root device as follow is my use of mkimage mips_fp_le-objcopy -O binary -R .note -R.comment -S vmlinux linux.bin gzip -9 linux.bin ./mkimage -A mips -O linux -T kernel -C gzip -a 0x80008000 -e 0x80170040 -n "Linux" -d linux.bin.gz uImage ./mkimage -n 'Simple Initrd Image' -A mips -O linux -T ramdisk -C gzip -d initrd.bin initrd and i set bootargs root=/dev/ram0 and load uImage to 0x80600000, ramdisk.gz to 0x80700000 and then bootm 0x80600000 0x80700000 Best regards zhuzhenhua

My host compiler is gcc-3.3.6, cross-compiler is arm-linux-gcc 3.4.1. [U-Boot-Users] How is the "ba 0xfff80000" located at 0xfffffffc ?

As in Embedded Planet EP405 board, ppc405GPr processor support high boot only, when Power On or reset, the processor starts at 0xfffffffc and the code is executed from flash/rom. There is usually a branch instruction(such as: ba target) in 0xfffffffc so that it can jump to the target. For example, if i set TEXT_BASE=0xfff80000 in u-boot,it means the instruction "ba 0xfff80000" is in 0xfffffffc. My questions are follow: 1 where can i find the branch instruction "ba 0xfff80000" in u-boot-1.1.3 code? it seems it is not in start.s 2 As we know, before u-boot is written to flash the first time, there is nothing in flash. when we write u-boot in flash from addr 0xfff80000, how is the branch instruction written to addr 0xfffffffc which is not neigbour to u-boot code body? Hello! I am testing my first u-boot and all went well until i tried to test ping and tftp network commands. When using these commands, i get timeout when receiving (all traffic is confirmed by ethereal). In tftp i have the same thing, but if i change the code so to ignore timeout it begins the file transfer. Within this transfer, at some point in time, the board sends a packet with strange IP and MAC addresses. From this point on the transfer speed decreases until there is a connection error. Anyone have an idea of it might be? The board is based on a mpc8247, running at 100MHz (i have configured CFG_HZ 1000). My guess is that it might be something with my timers configuration. I am porting u-boot-1.1.3 to Embedded Planet EP405 board(with ppc405GPr processor, 32M flash, 64M SDRAM) . The existed board AMCC walnut with ppc405GP processer seems simillar to Embedded Planet EP405 . However, is there another board supported by u-boot-1.1.3 is more similar to Embedded Planet EP405 ?
