Hello U-booters, This is a quick one: is the network console mechanism bidirectional? In other words, can I have a full-fledged network-based console or is the ncb facility only enough to receive bootup messages, but not able to send them ? I am not quite clear on that from the dox... TY -Federico

[U-Boot-Users] MMU and Linux kernel booting

Hi all, I have a couple of questions regarding the MMU. I'm working with a custom hardware based on Cirrus Logic EP9315 processor. As the on-chip SDRAM controller is unable to map the memory in contiguous regions, I have to use the MMU to do that. On the other hand Linux requires that MMU is off when it boots (http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/developer/booting.php). 1) In my understanding the function cleanup_before_linux (cpu/arm920t/cpu.c) is supposed to perform this opearation but it does not. Is this the right place to turn MMU off? 2) The second questions refers to memory tags. They should describe _physical_ mapping, right? If this is correct, the bd->bi_dram fields should be extended in order to describe both physical and virtual regions. Does it make sense? Hi Everybody, I am working on ep8248 board. I have the full U-boot code but in the cpu folder I didn't find any mpc8248/mpc8272 folder, but there is a folder named mp824x. I have read somewhere that the mpc824x and mpc8248/mpc8272 processors belong to different families. Since I need the start.s file for mpc8248 processor, can I use the start.s file of the cpu/mpc824x, If not then could you please tell me that from where I could get the start.s file for the mpc8248 processor. I guess MPC8275VR ( PQ2FADSZU ) works on MPC8260ADS, no idea about MPC8248. If you are sure 8248 should have a start.S like 8272, try using MPC8260ADS start.S, .Cheers. [U-Boot-Users] Environment in EEPROM on MPC5200 based board

Hi all, I'm using Lite5200 Board and tried to configure U-Boot to have environment in EEPROM. I use Hard I2C driver an everything works fine when the environment is in flash. When setting CFG_ENV_IS_IN_EEPROM U-Boot don't start (hang-up before any messages are printed on screen). If anyone know something about this problem, any help is greatly appreciated. Hi, well.. there's not so much to tell about serial console that is "system dependent", there are only a few function that take care about sending chars over serial line (again you can find them in serial.c, of course!) For anything else you can take a look at the main README file or REAME.whateveryouwant inside the doc directory. There is also a very good on-line manual inside the denx site! After reading those docs if you need support again please ask a more specific question. Hello, I have a PrPMC based on the 440GX. As a monarch the PCI interrupt A to D are connected to GPIO3 to GPIO 6 I was wondering how to tell linux the correct interrupt line number. where in the code can I set this up?

I read the manual(13.2.6. Linux hangs after uncompressing the kernel), and I make sure that the clocks_in_mhz and CFG_IMMR are right defined. I doubt the reason is the flash can't be found by kernel. The flash model is INTEL28F320S3 and it supports CFI command. I have used it all right with strataflash driver in U-Boot.
