Hi, I have ported u-boot to my arm920t based system. I have a unique situation in that my processor requires a binary header to be placed In front of u-boot.bin before it is burnt into flash. If the processor doesn't find this header in flash it will not boot out of flash. Currently I have the header file as a separate file in the root directory and when I finish a new compile I have a shell script which Simply does a 'cat header.bin u-boot.bin > out.bin'. I'd like to get away from this and add it to the Makefiles so for my board I don't have to run this script every time. Before I go editing a top-level Makefile, I wanted to ask for advice on how I should go About doing this? Anything I can do in my board-specific directory would make me feel better. Suggestions? I was trying to load linux-2.4.4 in FADS860T board using u-boot-1.0.0. I have settted environment variables like ipaddr,serverip,ethaddr,bootargs bootfile and saved the environment. Then,i typed tftpboot to download image from server. Then,i typed bootm to start the booting process. System is stucked by showing "Uncompressing Kernel Image ... OK" sequence of these events r given below.can u please suggest, what i need to do to come out from this. Thank you. Hi everybody, New Feature: * support for PCMCIA card on WEPEP250 board. Notice: The default configuration of WEPEP250 board does not include PCMCIA support. To include PCMCIA and IDE support the WEPEP250 configuration has to be adjusted. Note that I have changed TEXT_ADDRESS for WEPEP250 board to start at 0xA1000000. If my understanding is correct, Linux kernel will use the memory that was occupied by U-Boot code while running in RAM. Tweaking can be done later. Hi, here's a fresh version of my rather intrusive patch from the 17.th sept. to rearrange the ARM memory layout to bring it in line with the README. This has the positive side-effect of actually allow U-Boot to run on PXA- and IXP-based targets; the current implementation sets up the heap using bogus addresses causing u-boot to crash (this even applies to the recently added board "ixdp425"). This patch doesn't go all the way, though, since doing away with the board-specific setting of TEXT_BASE would require the code to be position-independent, which at least the cpu initialization code in cpu/*/start.S is _not_. Hi, the attached patch defines a new config option CONFIG_CUSTOM_TAGS for ARM targets. Defining this option causes do_bootm_linux() to call the function setup_custom_tags(), which should be supplied from the board-specific stuff. Specifically, I need to pass the board revision and serial number to the Linux kernel, and I'd like to use the standard method of passing tagged parameters. Hi everybody, The attached patch makes the IDE and FAT commands working on our custom board. CHANGELOG: * adds a return value for the fpga command * fixes an endianess problem in fat.h * adds an ide_preinit function called in ide_init if CONFIG_IDE_PREINIT is defined. If the ide_preinit fails, the ide_init is aborted. * adds the CFG_ATA_STRIDE configuration variable, which defines the spacing between ATA registers. The default value is 1, but it can be modified in the board configuration file. Hello, I guess you are using 10MB ethernet. In the 440 is between EMAC and PHY inserted so called ZMII bridge, which can operate in several modes. If is in the RMII mode then is necessary to set correct speed in the ZMII Speed Select Register. The following patch will fix this problem. Hi, here's a fairly lengthy patch against 0.4.8 that brings the memory layout of all supported ARM CPUs in line with the documentation. This has the positive side-effect of allowing U-Boot to actually run on PXA CPUs (the stock PXA implementation didn't set the start-address of the malloc pool at all!) The memory layout now more or less conforms to the standard as defined in the README (the absolute addresses are board-specific, of course). Since the stack and malloc-heap are now located below the U-Boot code, the TEXT_BASE of the supported ARM boards can be increased accordingly (for most (but not all) boards, the patch already does this). Memory layout example based on my PXA255 (TEXT_BASE = 0xA07E0000): 0xA079FF74 Monitor Stack (growing downwards) 0xA079FF80 Board Info Data and permanent copy of Global Data 0xA07A0000 Malloc Arena 0xA07E0000 RAM copy of Monitor Code ... optional: Frame Buffer 0xA07FFFFF [End of RAM] Since I only have access to PXA-based HW, I was only able to verify that U-Boot still *builds* for all supported ARMs; I have to rely on your help to see if it also *runs* correctly. There is (just was :-) a fat signed/unsigned bug in drivers/smc91111.c which is significant at NIOS plattforms when you are using MAC addresses with address elements above 0x7f. Example: 00:07:ed:0a:a4:7b goes over to 00:07:ed:ff:a4:ff inside the chip. Simple solution: static char smc_mac_addr[] = { . . . }; have to be: static char unsigned smc_mac_addr[6] = { . . . }; In attatchment you will find my smc91111_fix patch. It includes some other minor fixes I've made. This patch has been working successful at NIOS Stratix and Cyclone boards. Please try out and patch CVS tree. Hi there, the attached patch addresses two MII related issues: a) mii info <addr> ignored <addr> and always showed info for 32 PHYs b) The "Trick" mentioned in miiphy_info(): " * Trick: we are reading two 16 registers into a 32 bit variable * so we do a 16 read into the high order bits of the variable (big * endian, you know), shift it down 16 bits, and the read the rest." does obviously not work on little endian machines. * Patch by Steven Scholz, 20 Oct 2003 - "mii info <addr>" now only shows the info for PHY "addr" as the help message already suggests - Endian fix for miiphy_info() Thanks, Steven
