This was for Linux. If you do this, you must set CONFIG_WATCHDOG in U-Boot, too.
CONFIG_WATCHDOG in U-Boot will enable the watchdog (actually for MPC8xx it will _not_ disable it). If the watchdog is running, any software you run must make sure to trigger it, i. e. a Linux kernel without watchdog support will be reset very quickly.
