Can U-boot support platform Flash XL memories?

When we tried it, u-boot crashed just before reading the size of the memory.

Platform Flash XL by default supports synchronous reads. The memory controller that drives it however supports asynchronous read (there is no clock output).

So the platform flash XL need to be explicitly set to asynchronous reads.

Can U-boot cope with that (perhaps by changing some parameters in a header file?)
