[U-Boot] How to distinguish between the Linux kernel version above 3.0

Dear list, On the http://www.kernel.org/ , there are three stable version:3.0 ,3.1,and 3.2. Linux like crazy has introduced a new version.Present's edition naming method is as if different with 2.x. What do these editions have to distinguish?
Best regards, Xu Yang
