Hi: I want to add FTP support in u-boot for MPC8270 based system. Was there any work done on this front?? Any pointers will be appreciated.

Are you really sure you want FTP, not TFTP?
TFTP is already there, just use it.
For FTP you will need a full-blown TCP/IP stack. This is a lot of work, and little benefit over TFTP.

TFTP yes, FTP no.
