I definitely needed the README file to have the correct instructions and settings.
Note: The readme file you linked me to is missing instructions on the settings for the EVK. The version submitted by Otavio Salvador has the instructions for the EVK settings in it.
The mx28evk README is currently at Stefano's tree: http://git.denx.de/?p=u-boot/u-boot-imx.git;a=commitdiff;h=8e4cc4ef10f1cd4da...
Hopefully it will be in mainline for 2012.04-rc2.
