Thanks to Trevor and Wolfgang.
It was the flow control, I believe anyway!
I turned it of in the terminal emulator and it didn't work, however after restarting the terminal emulator it started to work!

Did you try the obvious, like disabling flow control in your terminal emulation program, or enabling it if it was off?
