I changed the HAVE_VENDOR_COMMON_LIB macro in v2 of the patch as suggested by Mike to get rid of the $(shell ..) call. The change was trivial so I did not compile all boards again and I missed the extra spaces. Sorry for that.
I have sent a v2 of Scott's patch, which also fixes the spl/Makefile. http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/177235/
