yesterday I've finished my NIOS Development Kit comparison. As an result of it I've expand the NIOS documentation end rebuild the board configuration. The work is accessible by patches:

Pending patch. We need it at NIOS platforms to avoid MAC setup failures. I'm not happy about the state of this patch ...

main work:
* moves DK1C20 board path from board/dk1c20 to board/altera/dk1c20 * makes a new common source path board/altera/common (at this time for flash access stuff only) * change/expand the Makefile * change/expand configuration file DK1C20.h
Patch U-Boot and you can configure and make U-Boot for a standard_32 NIOS CPU at Altera's DK1C20. Type in:
> make DK1C20_standard_32_config > make
NOTE: make DK1C20_config works again and force the standard_32 configuration as default.

Patch U-Boot and you can configure and make U-Boot for a standard_32 NIOS CPU at Altera's DK1S10. Type in:
> make DK1C20_standard_32_config > make
Any comments and notes to the new configuration framework are welcome. Scott, Patrice, what's your opinion ?
