[U-Boot] is uImage.FIT supported in U-boot 2008.10

I am unable to find the mkimage tool that takes the -f vmlinux.bin.gz argument. I am using ELDK4.2 compiling U-Boot 2008.10 using ARCH=powerpc for a MPC8548 board.

is the uImage.FIT currently supported, if so, where can i find the tools mentions in /u-boot/doc/uImage.FIT/howto.txt
