Unfortunately I've no time to debug the early hang problem. But that problem is independent from your CFI patch anyway.
Ok, nevermind, it seems to be working OK now w/o the BDI2000. I'll attribute this flaky behavior to my impatience with the usual POR problems I've had with this target since the very beginning.
