I don't feel no need to be in a rush to these stuffs. And they needs some possible cleanups, a MAINTAINER file entry, and so on. With these changes, I'll pull request in the future.

Can you please be more specific about the issues you have with my patch? I haven't seen any negative feedback (or much positive feedback :-] ) on the list or in private e-mail. I'm open to suggestions, as long as I get any ;-)
As for pushing into mainline, I don't want to rush this, but I have sent and re-sent this since end of September. If the next merge window opens in the summer, I'll just give up.
