Maybe it can, but as explained in the commit log, there is no such fix yet.
This issue is tricky as it happens with some brands of SD cards only.
I am sorry but I think that reverting back to non-SPL is the wrong direction. We ought to investigate and understand what is causing it, not hide it.
Maybe someone internal of NXP might help you to solve the real root cause?
