I'd say it's more than deprecated -- we shouldn't be using floating point arithmetic at all in u-boot. IMNSHO.
ACK. FP is forbidden. Period.
You may use FP in your standalone applications, but at your own risk and without any explicit support from the underlying U-Boot code.
