which is in common/boot_cmd.c/read_record() . read_record currently EXPECTS syscalls_tbl to have been allocated, and it dereferences the table looking for a console device. Prior to this patch the ARM code failed to ever allocate this small table at all. So, it was likely a dereference of a uninitilized structure.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Fixed (by #ifdef'ing out the affected code for anything non-PPC).

The management question ... is not _whether_ to build a pilot system
and throw it away. You _will_ do that. The only question is whether
to plan in advance to build a throwaway, or to promise to deliver the
throwaway to customers. - Fred Brooks, "The Mythical Man Month"
