Is there a simple solution to this problem? does the ram disk need
to
be
maually decompressed first?
I had the same problem and solved it by copying the ramdisk to a sdram location before booting the kernel.
Unfortunately yes - the 2.6 kernel is unable to handle an initrd in flash (this is a FAQ, by the way).
