My advice: start small and don't try to change too much at once. Get the basic infrastructure in place and get the patches out to the list.
That's my plan for now. I hacked a first frame work, and now I need to work out what needs to be configured and how to structure the configuration menu.
Maybe start with being able to select the board port with Kconfig while leaving include/configs/* in place. Once that is working and proven, then start migrating configuation over to Kconfig.
This is step two. Wenn the configuration files for kconfig are complete enough, I will simply include "autoconf.h" from my board header and comment out all my handmade defines.
So there are no big changes, but I can do small tests - just for the log: When the new configuration is complete there should be not board headers anymore. Ok, just theory...
