Okay, I got it working - it seems I need to learn a bit more about git, so this is just a normal diff between a current tree vs. a patched one.
Yes, git knowledge really helps upon U-Boot & Linux development.
I renamed CFG_FLASH_CFI_LEGACY to CONFIG_FLASH_CFI_LEGACY so that it is picked up by autoconf.mk.

BTW: what is the best method to get other patches in? I have 4 general IXP42x patches which I sent to the list on 2007-11-10 and which got no comments, plus patches to add support for 4 boards that go on top of these (one of which needs the flash patch below).
If you get no response, then you should ask on the list (CC to custodian) from time to time about the status. Please note that the IXP custodian changed just a short while ago. I'm pretty sure that Jean-Christophe will handle this much better than I did (lack of time and hardware).
