So yes, it only loads proper payloads the same way as it does on ARM.

If the payloads are unlikely to be put into an ISO for other reasons, then my doubts are appeased.

My best wishes for U-Boot's carreer as EFI firmware on ARM. If problems appear with the very first stage of booting an ISO 9660 image, then be invited to include me or bug-xorriso@gnu.org in the discussion.
