You are wrong. "git am" will trim _anything_ in brackets, so this patch will be, ummm... has been added as "zlib: updated to v.1.2.3"
"anything" is incorrect as well. it will trim leading brackets, but not trailing. ive seen some people append "[fixed]" or "[v2]" to the subject. -mike
