What about the Makefile in cpu/arm920t? Is it sufficient to change OBJS

like this?

No. Imagine what the Makefile would look like if we had 50  different
systems with 5...10 files and drivers each.
Hmm ... do you mean to define in cpu/arm920t/Makefile the variable SUBDIRS 
and use
the same technique used by the main Makefile?
