inside the automatic U-Boot patch tracking system a new ticket [DNX#2006040142000188] was created:

Description:

Initial version of u-boot 1.1.4 uses Machine ID for at91rm9200. (The Machine ID is used by bootm coomand, while kernel loading.) The latest kernel 2.6.15.6 doesn't accept this Machine ID and won't load, for it expects ID for at91rm9200dk exactly.

Note: Older kernels don't make difference and satisfied with generic at91rm9200 Machine ID.

Correction (single line): Machine ID in /board/at91rm9200dk/at91rm9200dk.c is now exact ID of at91rm9200dk.
