I had been working on something similar for OMAP4. Basically, I have an SPL ready for MMC on OMAP4. It's working on eMMC in raw mode, but needs some cleanup and also addition of FAT support.
I can clean it up and send it out next week(after my vacation) if you like.
That would be great. Having both nand and mmc boot would make this much more useful.
