I don't see how Mike is trying to nor can enforce anything like that. He's a single person expressing his views.

But I do second the notion that good ideas could (and should?) be copied from v2 to v1 since v2 isn't an available option for lots of u-booters (yeah that's the name of users using u-boot! ;-).
