I was not aware of the deadline. Board is being maintained. I will have a look into next few days and provide a patch for converting if necessary.
In this case what you'll need to do is switch to using CONFIG_OF_CONTROL (and setting a device tree to use). You'll need to enable DM_USB for USB_STORAGE to build.
