I don't understand. Why did you have to modify code?
The standard commands
=> eeprom read <addr> <off> <len> => md <addr>
will do the job. What is the problem?
=> eeprom read 0x54 0x00 10
EEPROM @0x54 read: addr 00000054 off 0000 count 16 ... done
Well, if EEPROM accesses work, you just have to configur your board correctly .
