Dear Per Andersson,
In message 3d9141e80908050719h1708b7ackcf7174a32c33852@mail.gmail.com you wrote:
Recently I received a request [0] to include a perl script which can edit the uboot environment. Use case is attached below, the file (uboot-envedit) is also attached.
Since it is confusing to add random scripts to Debian packages which are not in upstream, I ask you to include it at your end.
I'm afraid I don't really understand what this script is intended for.
To "edit" the U-Boot invironment we usually use the fw_printenv / fw_setenv tools from the tools/env/ directory.
These know how do deal with plain and with redundant environment, stored in NOR and in NAND flash, etc.
It seems the perl script does none of this?
If you want it included, please add some documentation, and submit it as a proper patch. Please see http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Boot/Patches for details. And make sure not to forget your Signed-off-by: line.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Wolfgang Denk
