What is the usecase ?
This is actually a v2, and the answer from v1 is at http://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2016-September/267019.html and should be more prominent in the commit message / help text (so, v3 please!). Without this option u-boot.img doesn't work from NOR, only u-boot.bin
