Well, my poor experience of 8xx porting hasn't entitled me to point out the WANTED register, I am afraid. I just gave the hint for you to make sure some key registers settings. You could check the register listed on <your-board>.h, especially DER, SIUMCR, PLPRCR、SCCR、BRx、ORx. They would take some effect on U-Boot init before u-boot relocation, which you could see some characters output from serial monitor port.
