It is in no way a new policy that U-Boot uses the Linux CodingStyle as model. We've been doing this for years. It's just that checkpatch allows for more regular and more strict tests for violations.
I am going to follow the style and not to add new typedefs. For the existing typedef, I will keep using them. In this case, it is an existing typedef, just for another platform. Fixing it alone will cause more troubles.
