I'm not a git expert so there may be a better way than this, but we want this to show up as a rename, rather than an add/delete. I would accomplish this using 'git mv', followed by 'git format-patch -C'

Thanks Ben -- I am no git expert as well, so I did not know about the -C option. I will use it for subsequent patch versions.
